From nothing to a licence
Eight steps, in order
Nothing here is optional and nothing here is a surprise. Read it once and you will know more about the German licence process than most people who already have one.

We cannot file the application for you, but we can tell you exactly what to bring and where to go.
Register with us
Walk in without an appointment, or do the pre-registration online. Either way, this is the moment it officially starts.
First aid course, eye test, photo
You need a certified first aid course, an eye test, and a biometric passport photo. We'll point you at places nearby that do all three — this trips up most newcomers, so ask us.
Apply at the Straßenverkehrsamt
This is the licensing authority, and the application is yours to file — we can't do it for you. If you're registered in Düsseldorf you can also use any Bürgerbüro in the city.

Theory lessons
Theory runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings — 12 core sessions plus 2 subject-specific ones. You attend in person and revise on the app between sessions. Both matter; the app alone won't get you through.
Mock test, then the real one
You sit a mock test at the school first. When you pass it, we unlock you online for the official theory exam. The exam is available in several languages — ask us which apply to you.
Start driving
Come into the office and book your first lesson. From here it's you, an instructor, and the roads around Düsseldorf-Eller.
The practical test
Around 45 minutes with an examiner. We don't put you forward until we're confident you'll pass — that's why so many of our students pass first time.
Licence in hand
Done. You collect your licence and you're free to drive.

Pre-registering is free and commits you to nothing. There is no contract until you have been here in person and signed the training agreement in the school.
