Choose from four licences
Manual, automatic, from age 17 or with a trailer. Choose the licence that is right for you.
Category B
With a Category B licence you can drive cars up to 3.5 tonnes. This means manual and automatic cars. It is the right licence if you want to drive on your own, whenever you like.

Test: You take the driving test in a manual or an automatic car.
Category B + B197
With B197 you take your driving test in an automatic car. After that, you may still drive manual cars. This makes the test much less stressful.

- At least 10 hours of training in a manual car
- You learn in a VW Golf GTI
Test: You take the test in an automatic. You also get extra training in a manual car.
Category BF17
With BF17 you can start driving at 17. An adult who is registered as your companion sits next to you. You get real driving experience early and feel safer on the road.

- Driving test at 17
- Until 18, you only drive with a registered companion
- Companion: age 30+, Category B for 5+ years, max. 1 penalty point
Test: You take the test in a Category B car.
Category BE
With a BE licence your car can pull a trailer that weighs more than 750 kg. The trailer can weigh up to 3,500 kg. This is good for caravans, horse trailers and big loads. Car and trailer together can weigh up to 7,000 kg.
